‘Political secularism destroyed Muslims in India’: Owaisi's jibe at Rahul Gandhi
AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks in the US, stating that political secularism has destroyed Muslims in India and ended their representation in assemblies and parliament.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday reacted to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks in the US which stated that Muslims are the most attacked community in the BJP government in India. “Political secularism has destroyed Muslims in the country," Owaisi said.
“It was used to end Muslim representation in Assemblies and Parliament," the AIMIM chief added.
Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi, Owaisi also spoke on the alleged incidents of violence against Muslims that happened in the 1980s when Congress was in power in Uttar Pradesh as well as at the Centre, PTI reported.
The Hyderabad MP, while speaking to media persons here, said, “I have been telling right from the beginning that through political secularism, Indian Muslims were destroyed. Due to this, the empowerment of Indian Muslims did not happen. I have and will be against political secularism."
“It is unreasonable. You were asked a question on Indian Muslims. But you said similar thing happened to Dalits and Sikhs in 1980s," Owaisi said while reacting to Rahul Gandhi's remarks where he had spoken about Muslims, Christians, Dalits and tribals “feeling attacked".
"You should have told what is happening to Muslims. He should teach this to Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan Chief Minister). Rahul Gandhi should have also told how Junaid and Nasir were killed in Rajasthan (allegedly by right-wing groups in February). Your government in Chhattisgarh sponsored 'Dharam Sansad' where Mahatma Gandhi was abused (back in December 2021)," he added.
Owaisi further recalled that the Congress party supported the BJP government in 2019 on the amendment to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) because of which today majority of those in jails are Muslims, Dalits, and the persons who are dissenters of the regime.
Rahul Gandhi, who is on a 10-day tour to the United States (US) was speaking at the 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' event hosted by the Indian Overseas Congress USA in San Francisco.
While Rahul Gandhi was speaking on 'mobbat ke dukan (shops of love)' in 'nafrat ke bazaar (market of hatred)', some people rose from their seats and started raising pro-Khalistan slogans.
He kept reiterating 'nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat ki dukan'.
