A Blue corner notice has been issued against absconding MP Prajwal Revanna amid furore over sexual harassment allegations. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara indicated on Sunday that Indian authorities had sought the help of Interpol to bring the JD(S) lawmaker back to India. Revanna is facing multiple sexual harassment cases after explicit videos featuring the 33-year-old went viral in recent days.
"Already Blue Corner notice has been issued. The Interpol will inform all the countries and locate him," Parameshwara told reporters in Bengaluru.
The state Home Minister said a Special Investigation Team formed to probe the sex scandal will now determine a way to bring Revanna back. The development came mere hours after the SIT arrested his father father HD Revanna on molestation and kidnapping charges.
What is a Blue Corner Notice?
According to details shared on the Interpol website, a Blue Corner Notice is issued by the international police cooperation body to collect additional information from its member countries about a person's identity, location or activities in relation to a crime.
Meanwhile HD Revanna was brought to the Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital for medical examination on Saturday following his arrest in the kidnapping case. The former minister was picked up from the Padmanabhanagar residence of his father — JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda — before being taken to the SIT office. His confidant Sathish Babanna has also been arrested in connection with the case.
“It's a political conspiracy going on against me. In my 40 years of political life, I have never seen anything like this,” the JD(S) MLA insisted.
The sexual abuse allegations have become a major campaign narrative in the Lok Sabha elections with the Congress and BJP-JD(S) combine engaged in a political blame game.
