Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday responded to a Constitution debate in Lok Sabha after a heated exchanges between the opposition and treasury benches for the last two days, and launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and Gandhi family.
Discussion on the Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India were held in Lok Sabha from Friday.
Targetting Gandhi family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that one family of Congress left no stone unturned in hurting Constitution. “I do not want to make personal criticism on anyone but it is important to place facts before the country. That is why, I would like to do that. One family of Congress left no stone unturned in hurling a blow to the Constitution. One Congress family relentlessly pursuing wrong thoughts, wrong deeds and wrong policies.”
Modi said that Congress always insulted the constitution and reduce its importance and alleged that the current generation of Gandhi family taking forward legacy of attacking Constitution after tasting blood long back.
The Prime Minister also blamed the Congress for problems in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, he added that his government's policies, decision-making process in last 10 years have been aimed at strengthening India's unity.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said VD Savarkar, who is seen as an ideologue of the BJP and RSS, had said there is nothing Indian about the Constitution, and that he preferred Hindu religious text 'Manusmriti' to it.
