PremiumNEW DELHI : Pensioners under the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) can now submit their life certificate online anytime during the year. The retirement fund body said the reforms initiated in submission of life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra benefits around 64 lakh pensioners.
"Pensioners will now be able to submit online life certificate at their convenience during any time of the year. The life certificate will remain valid for 1 year from the date of its submission," EPFO said in a tweet.
Earlier, the process of generation and submission of life certificates used to begin from November 1 while November 30 was fixed as the last date to complete the process. Those who failed to complete it in November had their pension disbursal stopped from January but now pensioners can submit their life certificate anytime of the year without waiting for November. Once submitted, the certificate will remain valid for the next 12 months.
Digital life certificates, introduced from 2015-16, allow pensioners to use their Aadhaar card number to obtain the certificate after biometric verification.
How to get pensioners life certificate online:
Instead of submitting a pensioners life certificate physically after getting it attested by a bank manager or a gazetted officer, one can also submit a digital life certificate at any EPFO office, pension disbursing bank, UMANG app or common service centre. After the Jeevan Pramaan Patra is submitted, you do not need to send any document to the EPFO office.
You need to submit your Aadhaar card number, pension payment order (PPO) number, bank account details and mobile number during the biometric verification for the digital life certificate.
EPFO guarantees a minimum pension of ₹1,000 to pensioners. EPF subscribers who have contributed to the fund for at least 10 years are eligible for pension.
