The city of Pune in Maharastra will soon get its own metro train network. After Mumbai and Nagpur, Pune will be the third city in the state to get a metro network of its own.
The city of Pune in Maharashtra which is scheduled to get its own metro rail network had another important development on 9 January.
After the first metro train rake of Pune Pimpri Chinchwad arrived from Nagpur the 1.4 Km of the overhead electric cable was energised by Pune metro in PCMCSant Tukaram Nagar station.
The metro train draw the power from the overhead electric cable and run on track.
Pune metro already approached Research Design and Standardisation Organisation (RDSO), commissioner Metro rail safety (CMRS) and Railway board for obtaining various statutory permissions require for train operation.
Work on Pune Metro began in June, 2017 and works like erecting pillars, track laying, installing signals etc were completed in a record 30 months.
The authorities will visit and inspect the preparations before granting requisite permissions. After getting permissions from these authorities Pune Metro could able to run the commercial services on trial. MahaMetro MD Dr Brijesh Dixit said " this rare feat was possible due to tremendous support from Punekars and all the government authorities"
The overhead electric cable from which metro train draws power, section Pier no 346 to Pier No 299, in Priority section Reach-1 was energised on 25KV, 50 Hz power supply. Total 114 electric pole portal has been installed in this section.
Soon Punekars will see the Metro train draws power from overhead cable and run on track. On this occasion Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD MahaMetro said " We will soon begin trials of metro train running and process for necessary approvals from RDSO, CMRS and Railway board".
