In Karnataka, the chief minister race between the two top candidates finally ended on Thursday with DK Shivakumar agreeing to the formula that Siddaramaiah will be the chief minister he will be his only deputy chief minister.

Speaking to media persons, Shivakumar said, “Everything is well, everything will be well, everything will be well. We had made a one-line decision: whatever the high command decides, we will abide by it. Ultimately Rahul Gandhi called me and said that you all must work together."

"Also, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called us and gave this regard. We all have accepted, whatever the formula has been generated," he added.

Both Siddharamiah and Shivakumar will take oath on 20th May. Also, the cabinet expansion is also going to take place on that day.

Congress-in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala invited allies from other parties to the oath-taking ceremony.

He said, "Our only formula is the service of people. Whoever wants to serve the people can do so, as much as they want. All our allies will be invited (to the oath-taking ceremony). This is not a celebration but Congress's dedication to democracy...those who want to fight for democracy and save the Constitution, can attend the event..."

It is to be known that Siddaramaiah is a mass leader who joined Congress in 2006 following his ouster from JD(S), while DK Shivakumar is one of the wealthiest politicians with a strong base.
