Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be on a 10-day visit to the United States from 31 May and is scheduled to address a rally of around 5,000 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) at Madison Square Garden in New York on 4 June, the reports said on Tuesday. The US visit by the former Congress President is coming right before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to the US on 22 June.

Rahul Gandhi will visit Washington and California and is also expected to address the students of Stanford University. The Congress leader will also meet many politicians and business leaders in the United States during his visit.

US President Joe Biden will host PM Modi for his first Official State Visit to the United States on 22 June. The White House said that the visit will strengthen the shared commitment between two countries for a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific.

"The upcoming visit will affirm the deep and close partnership between the United States and India and the warm bonds of family and friendship that link Americans and Indians together. The visit will strengthen our two countries’ shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific and our shared resolve to elevate our strategic technology partnership, including in defense, clean energy, and space," the White House Press Secretary said in a statement.

The statement added that the leaders will discuss ways to work together to confront common challenges from climate change to health security.

"The leaders will discuss ways to further expand our educational exchanges and people-to-people ties, as well as our work together to confront common challenges from climate change, to workforce development and health security," the statement added.

Rahul Gandhi's visit to the United States will come after the massive victory in Karnataka, where the Congress won 135 seats in a 224-member house. The popularity of Rahul Gandhi has also witnessed a boost after his nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra.
