Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, in his first speech in Raebareli after winning the Lok Sabha elections, said, “The public has sent a message to the Prime Minister of the country that if he touches the Constitution, then see what people will do to him."
Addressing a thanksgiving meeting in Raebareli on Tuesday, the Congress MP said the INDIA coalition parties fought the election unitedly in Raebareli, Amethi and other parts of the country to reduce the strength of the BJP-led NDA in Parliament.
The Congress leader said, “Earlier, there used to be alliances, but everyone used to complain about the alliance partners not assisting somewhere, but this time all the parties got united and didn't move back an inch.”
Slamming the saffron party, Gandhi said, “You (BJP) have made Kishori Lal Sharma win in Amethi, me in Rae Bareli, and the MPs of INDIA alliance in Uttar Pradesh... You have changed the politics of the entire country.”
Accusing the Modi government of ignoring the common people, Gandhi said the masses taught them a lesson by ensuring the BJP's defeat in Ayodhya.
"(BJP) lost the Ayodhya seat... Not only in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister has also saved his life in Varanasi... If my sister (Priyanka Gandhi) had contested from Varanasi, today the Prime Minister of India would have lost the Varanasi election by 2-3 lakh votes..." Gandhi added.
Giving the reasons for the BJP loss in the recently concluded elections, the Congress MP said, “There are two-three reasons why all this happened... The first reason is that the spirit of India understood that Narendra Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji want to finish the Constitution, and that's why the entire country stood in unity…
