Tamil Nadu has announced a slew of relief measures for the people who have been affected by the novel coronavirus and are under a lockdown. News Agency ANI reported that Tamil Nadu CM E.K. Palaniswami will award 1,000 to all ration card holders in the state. In addition to this, people would also be provided free rice, sugar, and other essential commodities.

" 1000 to all ration card holders, free rice, sugar, and other essential commodities. To avoid long queues, commodities will be issued on a token basis: Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami."

Tamil Nadu on Monday reported three more positive cases of coronavirus, taking the total to 12, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar said. These include two, both men, with travel history to London, while the other is a 54-year-old man, he tweeted. They have been admitted to the designated hospitals in the city and in Madurai.

As part of curbing the spread of virus, Tamil Nadu government has announced a lockdown till 31 March from 6 pm today.

The total number of novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 492 today, according to the Health Ministry data. A total of 30 states and Union Territories have imposed complete lockdown, covering a total of 548 districts in the country, to check the spread of coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to state governments to ensure that rules and regulations of the coronavirus lockdown are enforced strictly as he noted that many people were not following the measures seriously.
