Saif Ali Khan Stabbed: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times during a burglary attempt at his Bandra home. The actor managed to foil the bid despite sustaining severe injuries from the intruder's Hexa blade. Netizens hailed him as a ‘hero’, while the Mumbai Police released the first image of the perpetrator, who reportedly fled using the staircase.
Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his son Ibrahim Ali Khan and a staff member. At the hospital, Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery to remove a 2.5-inch knife piece, lodged in one of the stab wounds close to his spine, and the spinal fluid leakage was also repaired. Further, the Bollywood actor received plastic surgery on his hand and neck for the stab wounds. The doctors at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that the Bollywood actor was ‘out of danger’.
Saif Ali Khan was at his 'Satguru Sharan' apartment in Mumbai's Bandra when the burglar attempted to enter the Khan-Kapoor household on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
As per the preliminary probe, the intruder did not force his entry or break into the actor's 12th-floor flat in Satguru Sharan building, but possibly sneaked in at some point earlier in the night, the Mumbai Police said.
Media reports stated that Saif Ali Khan's house help, Elyimma Philips alias Lima, who was present at their home spotted the burglar and confronted him. A scuffle broke out following which she reportedly sustained injuries to her hand.
Time of Incident: The attack on Saif Ali Kahn's residence took place around 2:30 AM while the family was asleep.
Witness Account: Eliyamma Philip, a 56-year-old nanny, reported that she was sleeping on the floor in the room with Saif Ali Khan's younger son, Jeh. She woke up to a noise and saw a man approaching the child.
Intruder Description: The intruder was described as a thin, short man aged between 35-40 years, armed with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade.
Initial Confrontation: Philip attempted to pick up Jeh but was pushed away by the intruder, who warned her not to make any noise. The man, she said, pointed a finger at her and warned her, "Koi awaz nahin (don't make any noise). During the struggle, she sustained an injury to her wrist from the blade.
Demands Made: The intruder demanded ₹1 crore from Philip during the confrontation.
Saif Ali Khan's Response: Hearing Philip's screams, Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, rushed out of their room. The intruder then attacked Khan with the knife.
Saif Ali Khan was taken to the hospital by his son Ibrahim Ali Khan. The duo rushed to the Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw. Dr Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, said that the duo arrived at the medical facility at 3.30 am.
Since there was no driver at home at that hour, he was taken to hospital in an auto-rickshaw, said the Mumbai Police.
According to an India Today report quoting Mumbai Police, the family swiftly called his son Ibrahim Ali Khan for help after the incident. Ibrahim, along with his sister Sara Ali Khan—both residing on the 8th floor—hurried upstairs. None of them knew how to operate the family’s automatic electric vehicle, and so they rushed the actor to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
CCTV Footage: CCTV footage captured the assailant wearing a red scarf and carrying a backpack as he fled down the stairs from the sixth floor of their building.
Saif Ali Khan was tended to by a team of five doctors at Lilavati Hospital and has reportedly been shifted to the ICU for further care.
The man who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan is known to one of the domestic workers at his Bandra residence, the police said on Thursday, adding that she was being questioned for more details.
Saif Ali Khan's house help, who raised the initial alarm, later visited the Bandra police station to lodge a complaint for alleged attempted murder and trespassing.
