Section 144 imposed in Kanpur after gangster Sanjeev killed in Lucknow

Section 144 was imposed in Kanpur after gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot dead in the Lucknow court firing incident. Security in all district courts to be increased.

Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur to main law and order situation after gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot dead in the Lucknow court firing incident on Wednesday, said Kanpur Additional Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari. 

Uttar Pradesh Special DG (law and order) Prashant Kumar on Wednesday issued an order directing all district superintendents of police to immediately increase security in all district courts after the firing incident.

"The security of the courts in the district and commissioner should be reviewed. The security arrangements for the accused appearing in the courts should be strengthened. Intelligence and social media cells should also be made active and alert in this regard. In all the districts, strong security arrangements should be ensured in all the court premises by establishing coordination with the District Judge/District Magistrate and the office bearers of the Bar Association," the order read. 

Gangster Sanjeev Jeeva has been shot outside the Lucknow Civil Court on Wednesday. The attacker who shot at Sanjeev Jeeva was reportedly disguised as a lawyer.

The incident happened when the gangster, accused in the murder case of BJP leader Brahm Dutt Dwivedi, was brought to the Lucknow court.

After the incident, lawyers staged a protest outside Lucknow civil court.
