Amid crises in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in New Delhi for a visit. He will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar on April 1 i.e. tomorrow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Lavrov's visit to India comes amid British foreign secretary's visit, who today held talks with her Indian counterpart S Jaishankar. During the discussion, the Ukraine crisis was among the most talked-about agendas.

"Welcoming the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov as he arrives in New Delhi for an official visit," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a tweet. The Russian Foreign Minister reached here in India after his two-day visit to China.

In the wake of India's position on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, several top global leaders visited India in the past two weeks. Last week, China's foreign minister Wang Yi had also visited India. 

Before his visit, Lavrov had participated in two multinational meetings on Afghanistan along with representatives from Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. He also held meetings with representatives from China and Pakistan and attended a separate meeting of the "Extended Troika" with special Afghan envoys from China and the US.
