New Delhi: India has said it is keeping a close watch on the situation in Sri Lanka where six blasts have been reported in three churches and three hotels in the Indian Ocean nation.
Unconfirmed reports said upto 25 people had been killed in the explosions.
Around six percent of mainly Buddhist Sri Lanka is Catholic, but the religion is followed by the majority Sinhalese and minority Tamils alike.
“Colombo - I am in constant touch with Indian High Commissioner in Colombo. We are keeping a close watch on the situation. @IndiainSL," Indian external Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said in a Twitter post on Sunday.

The Indian high commision in a Twitter post said: “Explosions have been reported in Colombo and Batticaloa today. We are closely monitoring the situation."
The island nation has seen relative peace for a decade after the end of a bloody three decade old civil war in May 2009.
