The wrestlers, who have long been protesting against wrestling body chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accusing him of sexual harassment, have decided to suspend their protest after Sports Minister Anurag Thakur assured them that the investigation will be completed by June 15. The wrestlers have also warned that they will resume their protests if no action is taken against Brij Bhushan.

Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who attended the meeting, said that the wrestlers were asked to suspend the protest against Brij Bhushan till the police complete its investigation into the wrestlers' sexual harassment complaints.

“We have been asked to suspend our protest till police completes its investigation by June 15," Wrestler Sakshi Malik said, adding that the Delhi Police will withdraw FIRs filed against wrestlers.

After meeting Anurag Thakur, wrestler Bajrang Punia said the government has assured the grapplers that the police investigation in the sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan would be completed by June 15.

“[The] government has assured us that police investigation will be completed before 15th June. We have requested that all FIRs against wrestlers should be taken back and he has agreed to it. If no action is taken by 15th June, we will continue our protest," Wrestler Bajrang Puina after meeting Anurag Thakur said.

“We had a discussion on some issues. Police investigation should be completed by 15th June and the minister has requested us not to hold protests until then," he added.

Bajrang Punia further said, “He also said the security of female wrestlers will be taken care of. We have requested that all FIRs against wrestlers should be taken back and he has agreed to it."
