A case has been filed against Bastion, a high-end restaurant co-founded by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, for allegedly operating past the legally permitted closing hours, as reported by news agency PTI.

The establishment, situated on St Marks Road in Bengaluru, was reportedly found violating regulations by hosting late-night parties beyond the stipulated time limit during an inspection on December 11.

Officials cited in the PTI report confirmed that the action was taken after the restaurant was allegedly found to be in breach of local operating rules regarding closing times.

"We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Karnataka Police Act at Cubbon Park police station against the manager and staff of the establishment for violating the rules," a senior police officer said.

Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra move Bombay HC to Quash 60 Crore Cheating Case

In November, Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband Raj Kundra approached the Bombay High Court, seeking to quash a 60 crore cheating case filed against them by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

The couple’s petition not only requests the quashing of the First Information Report (FIR) but also urges the court to restrain the police from filing a chargesheet and taking any coercive action against them pending the court’s hearing.

Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty in a statement on Wednesday said: “We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated. The issues sought to be raised are being given a criminal colour without any lawful basis. A Quashing Petition has already been filed before the Hon'ble High Court and is pending adjudication. Having fully cooperated with the investigation, we are sanguine that justice will prevail and have complete faith in the law enforcement authorities and the judicial system of our country. We respectfully urge the media to exercise restraint as the matter is sub judice.”

The case was lodged following a complaint by Deepak Kothari, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, Shetty and Kundra induced him to invest 60 crore in their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Kothari claims the invested funds were ultimately utilized for the couple's personal benefit.

In their pleas filed before the High Court, Shetty and Kundra vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that the FIR was based on a "false and distorted set of facts" and was "maliciously filed with an ulterior and malafide motive to extort money."

The couple argued that the dispute is fundamentally a civil and contractual matter arising from a failed business venture and investment loss. They attributed the collapse of Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd to "unforeseen economic circumstances," specifically citing the demonetisation event in November 2016, which severely impacted their cash-based business model.

Shilpa Shetty's individual plea stated that she was not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and was associated with the firm for a limited duration. Both parties maintain that the losses incurred were merely business losses and not the result of any fraudulent design or criminal conspiracy.

The High Court directed the couple to furnish a copy of their petitions to the complainant, Deepak Kothari.
