Shirdi Saibaba Temple to shut from today amid coronavirus scare

    In the wake of coronavirus spread in India, Shirdi Saibaba Temple in Maharashtra will close for devotees from 3 pm today till further orders, news agency ANI reported. "Maharashtra: Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi to close temple for devotees from 1500 hours today till further orders,: ANI tweeted.

    Earlier, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust on Sunday appealed to devotees to postpone their visit to Shirdi for a few days in view of coronavirus outbreak in the country.

    On Monday, Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple Trust decided to close the temple till further notice.

    Several prominent temples in Maharashtra, including Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir in Pune and Mumbadevi Temple in Mumbai, will remain closed for devotees till further orders in the view of coronavirus outbreak.

    A total of 125 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Maharashtra has so far reported 39 COVID-19 cases. A 64-year-old coronavirus patient today died in a hospital in Mumbai. With this the total death toll reached to three in India.

    The World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared the coronavirus outbreak a 'pandemic'. Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city, has so far spread to more than 100 countries.
