Shocking visuals! Armed robbers storm Tanishq showroom in Bihar, loot jewellery worth 25 crore at gunpoint; two injured

In a shocking incident, armed robbers on Monday stormed a Tanishq showroom in Bihar's Arrah and looted jewellery worth crores.

The robbers overpowered staff at gunpoint, locked the shutter and held employees hostage for 30 minutes before fleeing with valuables.

The whole incident, which was caught on CCTV installed inside the showroom, has gone viral on social media platforms.

The robbery took place at the Gopali Chowk branch in the Arrah police station area.

Kumar Mrityunjay, the store manager said, “There were eight-nine robbers,” and claimed that police did not respond on time despite multiple calls.

An SIT has been formed under SSP Parichay Kumar.

Meanwhile, Bihar police said that they have arrested two accused involved in the robbery and recovered two pistols, 10 cartridges, looted jewellery and a motorcycle from them.

However, it is not clear if the police have recovered all the stolen jewellery.

“Six suspicious persons riding three motorcycles were seen going from Ara-Babura towards Doriganj. After chasing for some distance, the criminals fired at the police. The policemen retaliated, injuring two criminals who were shot near their feet,” reported ANI, quoting Bhojpur police

A team has been formed to arrest the remaining accused, said police.

Kumar Mrityunjay said that robbers looted jewellery worth ₹25 crore apart from cash.

Chains, necklaces, bangles, and some diamonds were among the jewellery lotted.

“This is a lapse by the authorities. It was morning time, not evening or night. We were calling the police, but did not receive any response,” reported PTI quoting Kumar Mrityunjay.

He added that two of their executives were injured as they were hit on the head by a revolver. 

Rohit Kumar Mishra, an employee of the Tanishq showroom, said, “The robbers took away their (Guards) guns and forced everyone to one side. We hid behind the counter, they beat us... The situation was chaotic, and we couldn't understand what was happening.”
