The 49-year-old Deputy MD of Max Life Insurance dishes out his #MondayMotivation
V . Viswanand is the deputy managing director of Max Life Insurance. The 49-year-old was one of the founding members of the company and has been with it for nearly two decades. Viswanand, who started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank, is an art enthusiast and a certified scuba diver. Here’s his mantra for a positive day:
Morning Boost
I wake up at 6.15am during weekdays and begin my day with a cup of tea, a handful of almonds and walnuts, and plenty of water. I read the news for about 15 minutes, and, by 7 am, I am on the tennis court or doing yoga. Before breakfast, I always have a large helping of seasonal fruit. Breakfast is a speedy affair, but it’s a must. I mix it with options like oats, poha, pancakes and egg white omelettes each day.
Fitness Files
I regularly go for walks, practise yoga and meditate every day. This helps me relax.
Sleep log
Sleep refreshes me like nothing else. I sleep for seven hours during week nights. During weekends, I sleep for 10-12 hours, padding it up with a long afternoon siesta—this routine sets me up for the work week. When I am travelling, I usually don’t face any jet lag. That’s because I follow three principles for long-haul travel—set your clock (and mind) to the time zone of your destination, sleep as much as you can (at night) and triple your usual intake of water.
Food For Fuel
I picked up the idea for a green vegetable smoothie—comprising kale, spinach, celery and coriander—from my wife, a fitness and executive coach. I drink it every night before dinner, which is usually a fish steak or a chicken mince bake.
How I Find My Zen
I love to paint with oil on canvas. I held my first exhibition three years ago, the proceeds of which were donated to charity. I am now prepping for the next one. I try to read one book every month. My recent reads include Robin Sharma’s The 5am Club and Benjamin Graham’s The Intelligent Investor.
