Starbucks hack? Netizens amazed as man reveals how he got ₹400 coffee for less than half the price
A Twitter user in India has gone viral after using the Zomato app to order a Starbucks beverage for less than half the price…while seated inside an outlet of the coffee chain.
In an era of online food orders and delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato, physical stores often find themselves taking a backseat. With some clever manouevering one could obtain the exact same food item for half the price…and in certain cases, have the delivery personnel make an in-store delivery to your table. A Twitter user has gone viral after obtaining a Starbucks drink at less than half the price, even as others chimed in with similar stories.
While immensely popular with people in India, Starbucks beverages come with a rather steep price tag that can give many pause. But as connoisseurs of such apps may have noticed, the company's food and beverages are often sold for ₹190 (a blanket price for certain items) via the Zomato app.
“Sitting at Starbucks - coffee for 400. Zomato deal for same coffee 190. Ordered Zomato with address of Starbucks. The Zomato guy picks up and gives me to my table at Starbuck," he said to the delight of countless netizens.
The Zomato deal (which this writer has previously taken advantage of) offers Tall portions of many of Starbucks' best selling and most expensive beverages for ₹190. It does not give much scope for add ons, but includes most of the typical combinations.
Sandeep Mall's hack has since brought forth a flurry of similar stories.
“Used to do the same for a few restaurants in Mumbai. In fact, there was a small egg-themed restaurant in Lower Parel which we were very loyal to. He used to tell us…sir Swiggy ya Zomato see order karo, acchi deal milegi," laughed another user.
“This is Jugaad in true sense!" applauded a second.
Others wondered how the staff and the delivery personnel had reacted. “He knew people were doing this," Mall added.
We're however not too sure whether the Starbucks staff will take kindly to this hack and you could possibly find yourself ushered out with the newly delivered beverage in some outlets.
