Supreme Court orders Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) probe into the allegations made by the family of late bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

FIR registered at Patna was correct. The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order, says Supreme Court.

The single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy pronounced the verdict around 11 am on August 19.

Supreme Court said that Bihar government is competent to transfer the case to the CBI for investigation. A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy said that FIR registered by the Bihar Police on the complaint of Rajput’s father Krishna Kishore Singh is correct and the reference to the CBI is lawful.

While pronouncing the verdict, the bench said that if any other case is registered regarding Rajput's death, the same shall be probed by the CBI only.

The apex court also asked Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. State of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order, Justice Roy said.

It said that jurisdiction of Mumbai Police, which is conducting probe under section 174 of the CrPC which deals with procedure to be followed in cases of unnatural death and suicide, is limited.

The apex court held that the ongoing investigation done by the CBI is lawful.

The top court delivered its verdict on a plea by Rhea Chakraborty who had sought transfer of the FIR lodged against her at Patna to Mumbai.

Shweta Singh Kirti, sister of Sushant Singh Rajput took to Twitter for her initial reaction, she tweeted in a series of tweets, "There we go!! Finally!! CBI for SSR!! #CBITakesOver.

In another tweet she wrote, "Thank you God! You have answered our prayers!! But it is just the beginning... the first step towards the truth! Full faith on CBI!! #Victoryoffaith" followed by another tweet "Congratulations to my extended Family!! So happy... first step towards victory and unbiased investigation. #JusticeforSushantSingRajput #OurfullfaithonCBI".

Meanwhile Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said," Supreme Court has given its verdict, it is not right to make political comments. Our state's justice system has always been one of the best in the country, no one is above law here & to provide justice to all has been the norm".

"Those in the government who know the law, the Mumbai Police Commissioner or our Advocate General can talk about it, it is not fit for me to comment on the verdict of Supreme Court", Sanjay Raut added.

"Once we get the order copy, we will examine it and decide further course of action. We have spoken to our advocates in the Supreme Court to send us the order copy," said Mumbai Police Commissioner, Parambir Singh

"This is a victory for Sushant Singh Rajput's family. Supreme Court ruled on all points in our favour. The Court also clearly said that the FIR registered at Patna was correct", says Vikas Singh, Lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father.

"Supreme Court also said that any other FIR registered in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput's death will also be investigated by the CBI. We hope that we should get justice very soon. The family is very happy with the verdict",Vikas Singh, Lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father added.

Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey while reacting on the decision by the Supreme Court said, "I am very happy. The Supreme Court's order has strengthened the trust people have in the Court and has assured the nation that justice will be delivered in the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case".

The apex court had, in its last hearing on August 11, reserved its judgment and asked all the parties to file their respective submissions in the case.

Bihar BJP MLA and relative of Sushant Singh Rajput Niraj Singh Babloo said,"Our family thanks the Supreme Court, and all those who were a part of this movement for justice. Now, we are certain that Sushant will get justice."

Claiming innocence in the case, Rhea Chakraborty had stated that her entire financial transactions are crystal clear and there is nothing incriminating against her and she is not involved in any way with respect to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

The CBI has registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the actor's death after the Centre accepted Bihar government's recommendation to transfer the probe in the matter from Patna.

An FIR was registered in Patna on a complaint filed by KK Singh, Rajput's father, under sections related to abetment to suicide.
