Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav used a metaphor involving "Bajrang Bali" to make a prediction about the BJP's performance in the Karnataka assembly elections.
“Lord Bajrang Bali is very angry with the BJP”, was the young RJD leader’s curt reply when reporters approached him with queries about his guess about poll results in the southern state.
The reference made by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to "Bajrang Bali" was related to the controversy that arose from the Congress party's election manifesto in Karnataka, which promised to crack down on extremist groups.
In the manifesto, Islamist organization PFI and Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an RSS affiliate, were mentioned in the same vein, evoking outrage from the BJP, the veritable political front of the “Sangh Parivar”.
During his election rallies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of insulting Lord Hanuman by mentioning Bajrang Dal in the same vein as the PFI in their election manifesto. He also chanted "Bajrang Bali Ki Jai" to show his support for the organization.
The JD(U) leader, who has been working to bring together the opposition parties against the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, held a meeting with a delegation of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) from Assam. The delegation was led by the party's president, Badruddin Ajmal.
In the last assembly elections in Assam, the AIUDF was part of the "Mahajot" which included the Congress, RJD and Left parties.
