NEW DELHI : The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday said militant groups have been making “consistent efforts" to infiltrate along India’s International Border and the Line of Control shared with Pakistan.

The remarks come even as the BSF has been carrying out drone activity along the International Border. The Indian Army has also red-flagged infiltration routes which are being used by militant groups, particularly the Jaish-e-Mohammad, to enter India, in an attempt to reactivate its camps at the Balakot sector in Pakistan.

Speaking at the force’s 55th raising day, director general of BSF Vivek Kumar Johri said, “There are consistent efforts to infiltrate through the border. Recently, we have taken measures to deal and handle recent drone intrusion incidents in border areas."

Allaying concerns of an increase in infiltration into India following the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai said on Sunday that the corridor “is secure under Border Security Force… and enemies have to think multiple times before any intrusion or committing any crime."

The corridor allows Indian pilgrims to cross from Dera Baba Nanak gurudwara in Gurdaspur district of Punjab to Darbar Sahib Gurudwara in Kartarpur in Pakistan's Narowal district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday also hailed the force’s attempts at preventing cross border infiltration. “This force has been diligently protecting our borders. During natural disasters and crisis situations, BSF personnel have always worked hard to serve the citizens," Modi said.
