Hours after India's moon mission fell short, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the best is yet to come for the country's space programme. Attempting to boost morale among the scientists, who were visibly upset after last night's disappointment, the PM said, "India is with you."
In a bilingual address delivered at headquarters of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bangalore, the PM said, “This is the moment when a nation stands tall.”
For ISRO, the Chandrayaan2 mission to the moon was a rare failure. The communication to Lander Vikram was snapped with just 2.1 km from the destination. To be sure though the orbiter, a key part of the mission, is still in place.
Isro Chairman Dr K Sivan and Mission Director Ritu Karidhal were present in the along with the rest of the team.
“As important as the final result is the journey & the effort. I can proudly say that the effort was worth it & so was the journey. Our team worked hard, travelled far & those teachings will always remain with us. The learnings from today will make us stronger and better,” the PM said.
