'The Kerala Story' crew member receives threat: ‘Don’t step out alone'

    The Kerala Story's crew member has received a death threat message from an unknown number. Film's director Sudipto Sen informed the cops that one of its crew members received a message from an unknown number. The police stated, "The message threatened the said person not to step out alone from home and that they didn't do a good thing by showing the story".

    As of now, the police have provided security to the crew member but FIR has not been registered as they have not received any written complaint.

    Film The Kerala Story has faced political heat due to its controversial content. The film has received both praise and backlash. The Opposition has called the film a 'propaganda', the BJP backed the film by calling it a 'harsh truth'.

    Most of the BJP-ruled states have announced The Kerala Story tax-free and the opposition-ruled states have banned it in the theatres.

    The Kerala Story has been declared tax-free by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments.

    Whereas the West Bengal government banned the film yesterday. The film has been boycotted in several districts of Kerala, and across Tamil Nadu by theatre owners.

    Yesterday several BJP leaders watched a show of 'The Kerala Story' at a cinema hall in the walled city with a number of female students from Delhi University.

    The media relations department of the party's state unit had booked an exclusive show at Delite cinema hall in Daryaganj.

    The exclusive show was attended by Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, state president Virendra Sachdeva, and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan.

    The Kerala Story controversy:

    The film which has been mired in controversy even before its release has been directed by Sudipto Sen.

    The central claim of the film that 3,200 women from Kerala joined ISIS remains unsubstantiated. The producers of the film even removed the claim from all its social media posts after it was asked to do so by Kerala High Court. The film was released on May 5.

    'The Kerala Story' stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in lead roles.

    The Kerala Story box office collection:

    The film has minted over 35 crore in the first three days of its release. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film minted 8.03 crore on its released day (5 May), on Day 2, the film earned 11.22 crore, and on Sunday, the box office collection of The Kerala Story rose to 16 crore.
