India Meteorological Department (IMD) Tuesday said thunderstorm with light intensity rain and gusty winds are likely to occur over and adjoining areas of Delhi-NCR in the next two hours.
The weather department in a tweet said, “Thunderstorm with light intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of North Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi & East Delhi ( Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Pitampura, Civil Lines) and Rohtak, Sonipat, Kharkhoda (Haryana) during next 2 hours."
Traces of rainfall — 0.4 mm — were recorded in the last 24 hours starting 8:30am on Monday. The relative humidity in the evening stood at 48%.
Meanwhile, the mercury rose by a notch in Delhi today as the maximum temperature settled at 38.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature settled at 23 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal.
Separately, the weather department informed that the depression that has formed over the Arabian Sea is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next six hours.
The depression was earlier observed over the southeast Arabian Sea, south of Porbandar in Gujarat and it is likely to move northwestward and intensify into a cyclonic storm, named as
."Depression over SE Arabian Sea intensified into Deep Depression at 1130 IST near latitude 11.9°N and longitude 66.0°E, about 930 km WSW of Goa, 1060 km SW of Mumbai. To move nearly northwards and intensify into a CS during next 6 hours," another tweet by IMD said.
