The Directorate of Government Examinations Tamil Nadu (TNDGE) announced the Class 12th or the HSC results yesterday i.e. on 8 May. About 8,03,385 students who appeared for the TN 12th exams of which over 7.5 lakh students cleared the exam. The overall pass percentage this year stood at 94.03 percent.
Though the toppers list was not announced by the board, S Nandini, daughter of a daily-wage worker has scored perfect score of 600. Nandini is student of a government-aided school in Dindigul district of the state.
While speaking to ANI, Nandini said her father has always encouraged her to pursue her education. She studied at Annamalaiar Mills Girls Higher Secondary School and the result has brought joy to her family and the school.
"The result of Class XII has been declared. I scored 600/600 marks. This makes me very happy. My grandmother and teachers supported me," she told ANI.
"My father is a daily wage labourer but he never tried to stop me from studying. He told me that my education is my wealth and has encouraged me," she added.
Her father Saravanakumar is a carpenter while her mother is a homemaker. Nandini also has a younger brother who is in 6th std. Saravanakumar said that his daughter was focused on studies since young age. “She saw how we were working and always wanted what she could to lessen the burden,” he told TOI.
Speaking of her future plans, Nandini said that she is planning to pursue BCom and then go for CA.
Coming back to the results, Girls once again outperformed boys in the board exams with a higher pass percentage of 96.38 per cent. Boys recorded a pass percentage of 91.45 per cent. As reported by Career360, Virudhnagar topped in terms of district wise topper with 97.85 percent, followed by Tiruppur with 97.79 percent and Permumbalur with 97.59 percent. As per stream wise pass percent, in the science stream, 96.32 percent students passed the Class 12 exams, Commerce stream (91.63 percent), Arts stream (81.89 percent), Vocational (82.11 percent).
Meanwhile, Karnataka School Examinations and Assessments Board too announced Karnataka SSLC Result 2023 yesterday wherein four students scored 625 marks in Karnataka SSLC exam. The overall pass percentage stood at 83.89 per cent.
