An eagle collided with the windshield of a train in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, and ended up inside the locomotive cabin, causing minor injuries to the pilot, officials said. The incident took place on the Baramulla-Banihal route between Bijbehara and Anantnag railway stations, according to PTI.
Officials stated that the windscreen was broken, causing minor facial injuries to the pilot. However, the bird landed safely inside the pilot's cabin following collision, they said.
Viral videos on the internet show capture the incident involving a train pilot who was injured when an eagle collided with the locomotive between Bijbehara and Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. The video sequence that follows the frame shows the dramatic moment when the eagle collides with the train's windshield, causing it to shatter. In a similar incident, an IndiGo flight (6E 6629) from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru was cancelled early this year after an eagle collided with the plane’s engine during takeoff at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, reports said.
The incident took place at 7:30 am when a bald eagle struck the aircraft’s left engine, prompting the pilot to brake and prevent a potential accident.
“IndiGo flight 6E 6629 operating from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru on March 24th had returned to its bay due to bird strike. The aircraft will be back in operations after necessary maintenance. Customers were offered with refreshments in the interim, and our team was available at contact points to assist customers,” according to a press release.
The plane was safely returned to the maintenance area. IndiGo had arranged for another aircraft to operate the flight at 6 pm. The delay was also linked to ongoing runway maintenance, reports said. Some passengers were accommodated in a hotel, while others, living nearby, went home.
