According to the travel advisory issued by budget airlines IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara, domestic travellers should reach the airport three hours in advance. International flyers are requested to reach at least four hours prior to their scheduled flights. Since passengers have to undergo intense security checks, the airlines have advised passengers to reach airport accordingly.
Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), tweeted, "Attention Flyers: Due to enhanced security arrangements, flyers are requested to reach Delhi Airport minimum 4 hours in advance for all domestic flights and 4 hours in advance for all international flights."
Usually, flyers have to reach airport at least an hour before their domestic flights and two hours prior to their international departure.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Ministry has barred the entry of the visitors to the meet and greet area at all airports till August 20. The strict measure has been implemented to avoid any untoward incidents after Centre scrapped Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
All approaching vehicles will be subject to an intensive random security check at least one kilometer away from all airports. The police has set up additional checkpoints for vehicle checking. Enhanced security measures in all airports include on-ground monitoring of all aircraft and cargo tracking.
Passengers will go through a 'full pat down' search at security check point. Then, they will undergo a compulsory secondary ladder point checking for all flights at all airports. Security has already been enhanced across all aviation installations and cargo terminals.s
