In a tragic incident, the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train and derailed on the main line, according to an official from the railway ministry. The collision occurred as the Coromandel Express, traveling at approximately 127 km/h, met with the goods train. Within moments of this collision, the Howrah-bound Yesvantpur Express, approaching from the opposite direction, also collided with the Coromandel Express. The catastrophic accident took place around 7.30 pm on Friday, June 2, which left nearly 300 people dead and more than 900 injured.

James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom and MP for Braintree, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims on twitter. He offered his heartfelt sympathies and extended his thoughts to the survivors and the emergency services involved in the rescue operations.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of Nepal expressed deep condolences to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Indian Government, and the bereaved families on twitter.

President of the United Nations General Assembly expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the victims, their families, and the Government of India. The UN GA President offered thoughts and prayers for those affected by the accident and expressed solidarity with the emergency services involved in rescue and relief efforts.

US Ambassador Eric Garcetti expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the US Mission in India to the families affected by the tragic train accident in Balasore. He conveyed solidarity with India and with the people of Odisha during this time of grief.

Abdulla Shahid, the Foreign Minister of Maldives took to twitter and expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news of the tragic train accident in Odisha, India. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and expressed prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Hiroshi Suzuki, the Ambassador of Japan, expressed deep sadness upon learning about the train accident in the state of Odisha. He conveyed his condolences for the loss of many lives and the injuries caused by the incident. Turkey made a press release regarding the train accident in which Turkey expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims who tragically lost their lives. The release said, Turkey's thoughts are with the people and the Government of India during this difficult time and wished a swift recovery to those who were injured in the accident.

Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, expressed his deep sadness, over the devastating train accident that claimed the lives of numerous individuals in India, over twitter. Offering his heartfelt condolences, he extended his sympathies to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident.
