Uttarakhand: Dehradun to Delhi Vande Bharat Express train flagged off by PM Modi; to cover route faster than Shatabdi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually flagged off Uttarakhand's first semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express train connecting Dehradun with the national capital New Delhi. This will be the sixth Vande Bharat connecting Delhi from different routes. Till now, the national capital is connected with Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra, Bhopal, and Amb Andaura. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present at Dehradun railway station.

"Global tourists want to visit India to see the country and understand it. This is a great opportunity for Uttarakhand," the prime minister said at the launch.
Addressing the flag-off ceremony, Modi said he just returned from a tri-nation tour and can say that the whole world looks towards India with great hope.
"The world appreciates the way India has strengthened its economy over the past few years despite various challenges," he added.
First Vande Bharat of Uttarakhand
The semi-high-speed train is India's 18th and Uttarakhand's first-ever Vande Bharat train which would commence its inaugural run from Dehradun to Delhi's Anand Vihar terminal. The train is equipped with world-class amenities. The train has been indigenously manufactured and is equipped with advanced safety features, including the Kavach technology.
Vande Bharat Express: Delhi-Dehradun in 4 hours and 30 minutes
The regular operations for the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will start on 29 May. The train will operate on all days of the week, except Wednesdays. The first such train for Uttarakhand reduces the journey time between Dehradun and the national capital to four-and-a-half hours from the six hours and 10 minutes it takes on the Shatabdi Express.

Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express departure and arrival
The train with the number 22457, departing from Anand Vihar railway station, is scheduled to leave at 17:50 or 5:50 pm, and arrive at Dehradun by 22:35 or 10:35 pm.
Last week, Odisha got its first Vande Bharat. It runs between Puri and Howrah. The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 18 through the virtual mode from Puri and commenced commercial services on May 20.
