Cold wave in India live updates: IMD has predicted a return of cold wave conditions in Delhi. The minimum temperature is likely to settle at 3 degrees Celsius. 

India weather update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a return of cold wave conditions in several states like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh till January 19, 2023. Following this, a fresh spell of cold wave and dense fog is likely to engulf parts of north India.

In Delhi, the minimum temperature is likely to settle down at 3 degrees Celsius from today. The national capital had already witnessed an intense cold wave spell from January 5 to January 9 this winter, the weather forecasting agency stated.

As per IMD forecast, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir may see moderate/light rainfall or snowfall from January 18.

“A western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of January 18th. Under its influence, light/moderate isolated/scattered rainfall/snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ldakh-Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand likely during 18th-20 January, 2023," the weather bulletin released by IMD read.

Northwest India in grip of intense cold; relief likely from Jan 19

A biting cold wave swept north and northwest India on Monday with the minimum temperature settling in the range of one to three degrees Celsius in many parts.

With the frigid northwesterly winds from the Himalayas setting in over the plains, it is likely to get even colder in the region in the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said cold wave conditions will abate from January 19 under the influence of two western disturbances which are likely to affect the region in quick succession. (PTI)

Rajasthan: Several areas recorded minimum temp below freezing point

Several areas of Rajasthan recorded temperatures below freezing point on Sunday.

Shishram Dhaka, the Zonal Director of research at Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Fatehpur-Shekhawati said that -4.7 degree celsius temperature was recorded at Fatehpur-Shekhawati on Sunday. (ANI)

Delhi revellers cautious ahead of cold spell predicted by IMD

Ahead of the cold spell predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) from tomorrow, revellers at Connaught Place expressed their views regarding the weather.

Talking to ANI, here on Sunday, a lady named Pragya said, "My family has come from Haryana, and we have come to enjoy here. We have experience of cold, and we will see what to do when cold increases."

A reveller emphasised the necessary precautions in the weather.

"I am Ramshankar Das from Odisha. Yes, there is cold, and we should take precautions about that. The best precaution is drinking hot water and doing 'Pranayam'. I do it regularly," he said. (ANI)

Delhi's minimum temperature likely to settle at 3 degrees C

In Delhi, the minimum temperature is likely to settle down at 3 degrees Celsius from today, according to IMD. 

“Further fall in minimum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius very likely over many parts of Northwest and central India till January 17th and gradual rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius during 18th to 20th January. Fall in minimum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius very likely over East India till 17th and gradual rise by 2-3 notches during 18-20th Jan. No significant change in Gujarat," the weather office said.
