Amid the ongoing wrestler's protest, WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, claimed to undergo polygraph test, but with a condition that Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia also undergo the same test at same time
Amid the ongoing wrestlers' protest demanding the arrest of BJP MP and WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the leader himself has come forward and said that he is ready to undergo a polygraph test. However, he also kept a condition that the same test of wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia is also conducted along with his test.
He further promised that he is ready after the declaration by the protesters. “I am still firm on my statement and will stay firm on my words in the future as well. This is my promise to the people of my country"
He ended his post with a Ramayana verse, “Raghukul Reeti sada chali ayi, pran jaye par vachan na jaye. Jai Shree Ram."
Notably, the BJP MP on Sunday said that he wanted to retire from politics in 2014, but continued to stay after insistence from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Rejecting sexual harassment allegations against him, Brij Bhushan Sharan singh said that “if someone decided to speak lies then they can do."
Olympic winners and world champions like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshee Mallik and many other wrestlers are protesting the arrest of the WFI chief due to charges of sexual harassment against him. The protest resumed in May, after the Delhi Police delayed filing an FIR against the politician.
On May 19, the wrestlers had marched from Jantar Mantar to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in New Delhi marking 25th day of protest against Brij Bhushan. On April 24, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced that the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will form an ad-hoc committee to conduct the elections for the executive Committe of the Wrestling Federation of India within 45 days of its formation.
The executive committee will look into day-to-day affairs of the body, including the selection of athletes and making entries for the participation of players in international events.
