Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot is weighing his options, which includes setting up his political outfit. However, Pilot might announce the final decision after June 11 due to the death anniversary of his father Rajesh Pilot.

Pilot has conveyed his "unwavering" position on three demands and is waiting for the party's response before taking the next step, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

Both Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Pilot met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party Leader Rahul Gandhi on May 29 in New Delhi. In the meeting, Pilot reiterated his three demands—to probe corruption charges during the Vasundhara Raje regime, disband the Rajasthan Public Service Commission and provide compensation to those affected by government job exam paper leak cases.

Yesterday Congress secretary in-charge of Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa ruled out the possibility of dissident leader Sachin Pilot floating a new party.

He reiterated that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had recently talked to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot in Delhi in which both the Rajasthan leaders "agreed to work unitedly".

“Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi listened to both of them carefully and both were told that they are the assets of the Congress... Both said that they will work together," he said.

While Pilot had been described as an “asset" by the Congress party, a prominent section of the feels he has to wait. The Congress party leaders say that Pilot is 45 and has already become a Union minister, Pradesh Congress Committee chief, and deputy chief minister.

Randhawa said that 90% of the matter was resolved and the rest was also not an issue.

Pilot and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot have been engaged in a power tussle since the Congress formed government in Rajasthan in 2018 and the party is seeking to broker peace between the two ahead of the assembly elections in the state, slated for later this year.

There is intense speculation that Pilot may give a clear indication of his way forward on June 11 when he marks his father's death anniversary in Dausa.
