India has ranked 69 in the world's strongest passport list, while UAE ranked first in the rating of passports for 2022 has been made public recently.

Passport Index 2022 published by Arton Capital is the ranking of the world's strongest and weakest passports and it tells you the number of countries you can enter without acquiring a visa.

With a UAE passport travellers can enter 180 countries hassle-free — 121 countries visa free with a visa on arrival facility for 59 countries. They only require visa for 89 countries. 

10 European countries, namely, Germany, Italy, France Spain, Luxembourg, alongwith South Korea stood on the 2nd position. They have the visa power to travel to 126 countries and need a visa on arrival for 47. 

United States passport is ranked 3rd with ability to travel to 116 countries visa free followed by UK on number 4 position. 

Meanwhile, Indians with a ranking of 69 can only travel visa free to 24 nations, need a visa on arrival for 48 others and visa for 126 countries. India shares the same ranking with countries like Gambia, Ghana, Uzbekistan and Tanzania.

Last on the list is Afghanistan with only 38 countries in its visa free list, Pakistan passport holders can travel to only 10 nations visa and Syria & Iraq only 8.

The Passport Index methodology is based on the 139 members of the United nations and six territories were considered for the list. The data is based on on official information provided by governments, updated in real-time with intelligence obtained through crowdsourcing and enhanced with proprietary research from highly credible sources.

To determine the individual rank of each passport, a three-tier method is applied which is mobility score (MS) – includes visa-free (VF), visa on arrival (VOA), eTA and eVisa (if issued within 3 days), VF portion of their score vs VOA and United Nations Development Programme Human Development Index 2018 (UNDP HDI) is used as a tie breaker. The UNDP HDI is a significant measure on the country’s perception abroad.
