A bizarre incident unfolded in Jharkhand's Deoghar where a bride angrily walked out of her wedding after the groom fainted from cold during the rituals, the Times of India reported. The incident took place on December 15. An eyewitness told the daily that the groom, 28-year-old Arnav Kumar, complained about howling cold winds in an open-air mandap.
However, the ceremony began smoothly with the Varmala ceremony. After it was completed, guests went for dinner while the couple stayed seated at the mandap. When the priest began chanting the mantras before the Pheras or the sacred rounds that the bride and groom take around the fire, Arnav was seen shivering and then fell unconscious.
The doctors who attended Arnav stated that the cold weather and a long day of fasting for the wedding caused the groom to faint. But Ankita, the bride, walked out of the mandap when he collapsed and eventually called off the wedding, suspecting an underlying health issue behind his fainting.
The TOI report further added that both the groom's and the bride's families tried to convince Ankita. However, she refused to change her decision. The next day, the Baraat left without the bride.
“This incident has become a talking point in the local community with people talking about challenges of conducting winter weddings in open venues during extreme weather conditions,” a local resident who was at the wedding was quoted as saying in the report.
Recently, a Bihar man's attempt at bigamy took a chaotic turn as his current wife showed up for the ceremony. The incident took place in Bhagalpur with the two women clashing dramatically ahead of the nuptials on December 10. The wedding was ultimately cancelled after the family of the bride-to-be came to know about his actual relationship status.
