A man was arrested from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh for threatening Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad who was recently shot at by unidentified assailants while he was travelling in Deoband of Saharanpur district. In a Facebook post, the man, identified as 30-year-old Vimlesh Singh from Amethi, threatened Chandra Shekhar Aazad, saying “next time he won’t survive".

In a statement on Friday, Amethi's Superintendent of Police Elamaran G said that taking cognisance of the death threats to Chandra Shekhar Aazad on the Facebook page 'Kshatriya of Amethi', the police have registered a case under section 506 of the IPC and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

While Vimlesh Singh was not found to be directly involved in the attack on Chandra Shekhar Aazad but preventive measures have been taken to maintain peace.

Six days ago, a post on the Facebook page ‘Kshatriya of Amethi' claimed that Chandra Shekhar Aazad would be killed by the Thakurs of Amethi in broad daylight. In another post, it mentioned the recent attack on Chandra Shekhar Aazad, saying “next time he wouldn’t survive".

It also warned of a massive agitation if any “innocent Rajput is implicated" in the attack against the Bhim Army chief.

Two days ago, Chandra Shekhar Aazad was travelling in a Toyota Fortuner in Deoband when the incident happened. According to the reports, two bullets were fired at Chandra Shekhar Aazad Ravan.

While the first bullet grazed Chandra Shekhar Aazad's waist, passing through the car seat and the door, another bullet narrowly missed the Bhim Army chief and hit the back door.

“Half an hour back, the convoy of Chandra Shekhar Aazad was fired at by a few car-borne armed men. A bullet brushed past him. He is alright and has been taken to CHC for medical treatment. Police are investigating the matter," SSP Dr Vipin Tada said.
