A tragic incident in Odisha where a train climbed over the boogies of another train has led to the deployment of rescue teams and compensation for victims. Several national leaders expressed their condolences on twitter.

Odisha Train Accident: Nearly 240 people and over 900 have been injured in a train accident in Odisha late on June 2, 2023. This is said to be one of the worst train accidents since 2004.
The train crash happened near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, around 7 pm on Friday, prompting the Railway Ministry to order a probe. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has mobilised all the aid for the search and rescue operations in the aftermath of Coromandel Express accident.
Indian Army has been deployed to assist in the evacuation and treatment of injured citizens. Army medical and engineering teams with ambulances & support services have been deployed from the Eastern Command. The teams have been routed from multiple bases so as to reach the place of the incident as early as possible.

President Draupadi Murmu tweeted ,expressing her deep anguish over the loss of lives and extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared one-day state mourning following the devastating train crash that claimed the lives of over 200 individuals and left approximately 900 injured. He expressed his grief over the Baleshwar Karamandal train accident. Calling it a very tragic incident, he said that he will visit the place tomorrow.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology expressed his heartfelt prayerst, for the speedy recovery of the injured and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. Rescue teams from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, along with the NDRF, state government teams, and the Indian Air Force, have been deployed to the affected site in Odisha.
Later, in a tweet he announced ex-gratia compensation for the victims and their families. A compensation of Rs.10 lakh will be awarded to the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident. For individuals who suffered grievous injuries, an amount of Rs. 2 lakh will be provided as compensation. Additionally, those with minor injuries will receive Rs.50,000 as compensation.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her shock at twitter and took action to coordinate rescue efforts and provide aid to those affected. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Mamata Banerjee announced the dispatch of a team comprising 5-6 members to collaborate with the Odisha government and railway authorities in the rescue operations. The Chief Minister's office activated an emergency control room and released helpline numbers, 033-22143526 and 22535185, to ensure swift communication and assistance for those in need.
In response to the tragic train accident involving the Coromandel Express in Balasore, Odisha, Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Indian National Congress, took to twitter and expressed deep anguish and extended his condolences to the affected families. Through a heartfelt tweet, Gandhi shared his empathy for the victims and called for solidarity in supporting the ongoing rescue operations.Furthermore, Gandhi expressed his earnest wishes for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries in the accident. He urged party workers and leaders to actively participate in the rescue operations.
