Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his heartfelt tribute Renowned playback singer P Jayachandran, who passed on Thursday evening in Kerala.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Shri P. Jayachandran Ji was blessed with legendary voice that conveyed a wide range of emotions. His soulful renditions across various languages will continue to touch hearts for generations to come. Pained by his passing. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this hour of grief.”
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan also paid his wrote heartfelt condolences and said, “P. Jayachandran’s passing marks the loss of an irreplaceable cultural icon who defined the essence of music and emotion for generations. His voice transcended boundaries, infusing music with unparalleled warmth and expression. More than just a playback singer, he was a symbol of artistic excellence, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate for years to come. Heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers.”
Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said:"Heartfelt condolences on the sad passing of Sri P.Jayachandran, noted singer. His endearing voice that charmed audiences for six decades will go on to soothe people's hearts. May his soul attain Mukti"
P Jayachandran died at around 7.55 pm while undergoing treatment, PTI reported. He was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at his home on Thursday. He had been unwell for quite some time. As per PTI reports, his body will be brought to his residence at Poomkunnam, Thrissur on Friday and will be laid at the Sahitya Academy Hall for the public to pay their last respects. The funeral will be held at 3 pm on Saturday at his ancestral home in Chendamangalam.
