Eid al-Adha today

Muslims in India are celebrating Bakrid today, Saturday, June 7, 2025, based on the crescent moon sighting. Eid al-Adha occurs on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Arafat Day, the holiest day in Islam, was observed in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Also known as Yaum al-Arafah, Arafat Day is celebrated on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, preceding the Eid celebrations.

Eid al-Adha is the second Islamic festival of the year, following Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The date changes annually, as it relies on the Islamic lunar calendar. This festival commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God.
