Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 19 addressed the first Mann ki Baat of 2025. During his address, the Prime Minister discussed on the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 and spoke on extensive participation of the youth, adding that, when the younger generation connects with their civilisation, its roots become stronger and its golden future is assured.
1. In his address, PM Modi explained why Mann Ki Baat is being held on the third Sunday of the month instead of the usual fourth Sunday. “You must have noticed one thing, every time Mann Ki Baat takes place on the last Sunday of the month. But this time, we are meeting a week before, on the third Sunday of the month, instead of the fourth month, because next Sunday is Republic Day. I wish all countrymen a happy republic day in advance.”

In the 118th episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM highlighted the significance of this year's Republic Day and said that it marks the 75th anniversary of the Republic of India and the implementation of the Constitution of India. “I bow to all those great personalities of the Constituent Assembly, who gave us our sacred Constitution.,” the PM said.

Speaking on Mahakumbh 2025, he said, “You must have seen that the youth are extensively participating in Kumbh", adding further, PM said, “It is true that when the young generation proudly joins its civilisation, then its roots become stronger and its golden future is assured.” The Prime Minister also highlighted the large scale digital footprints in Kumbh this year.
4. PM Modi said, “This time many divine yogas are also being formed in Kumbh. This festival of Kumbh celebrates unity in diversity. People from all over India and the world gather on the sands of Sangam. There is no discrimination or casteism anywhere in this tradition that has been going on for thousands of years. Everyone takes a dip in the Sangam, has a community feast together and takes Prasad together. That is why Kumbh is the Maha Kumbh of unity”
5. In his address, he also thanked the Election Comission for continuously modernising and strengthening the voting process over time. He said, “The Commission has used the power of technology to strengthen people's power. I congratulate the Election Commission for its commitment towards fair elections. I urge the countrymen to vote in large numbers and participate in the country's democratic processes and also strengthen the process.”
6. He also expressed pride in announcing that an Indian space-tech startup, Bengaluru's Pixxel, successfully launched India’s first private satellite constellation, named ‘Firefly’. He said, “This satellite constellation is the world's highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation.”
7. In addition to this, Prime Minister also spoke on scientists trying to grow plants in space and keep them alive. He added, “For this, ISRO scientists have selected cowpea seeds. These seeds sent in space on 30 December have germinated in space. This is an inspiring experiment which will open avenues to grow vegetables in space in the future. This shows that our scientists are working with a vision for the future.”
8. The Prime Minister during his address spoke on ExTeM centre of IIT Madras who is working on new technologies for manufacturing in space. The PM explained, “This centre is researching technologies like 3D printed buildings, metal foams and optical fibres in space, and developing revolutionary methods like manufacturing concrete without water. This research will strengthen India's Gaganyaan mission and future space stations.”
9. During his address, he spoke on the two new tiger reserves wheich were added in India. He said, “In the past two months, our country has added two new tiger reserves. One of them is Guru Ghasidas - Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh, and the second is the Ratapani Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.”
10. He also hailed Virgin coconut oil from the Nicobar which recently received the GI tag. PM Modi said, “A new initiative has been launched, following this achievement. Women involved in the production of the oil are being inducted into self-help groups, and they are receiving specialised training in marketing and branding. This is a significant step towards economically empowering our tribal communities.”
