PM Modi to address United States Congress on his visit
This will be the second time PM Modi is addressing the joint meeting of the Congress after 2016

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address a Joint Meeting of the United States Congress on June 22 during his state visit to the country. The announcement was made by top congressional leaders and is one of the top honours US accords to foreign dignitaries.
“It is my honor to invite @PMOIndia @narendramodi to address a Joint Meeting of Congress on Thursday, June 22nd. This will be an opportunity to celebrate the enduring friendship between the United States and India and speak to the global challenges our countries both face," House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in a tweet while sharing the invitation for PM Modi.
The honour to address joint meetings of Congress are generally accorded to the close allies of the United States or major leaders of the world. Previously, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol addressed the Congress in April.
This will be the second time PM Modi is addressing the joint meeting of the Congress after 2016. In 1949, Jawaharlal Nehru became the first leader of India to address such meeting in United States.
US President Joe Biden has expressed his desire to deepen the US-India ties in his bid to win what is calls the contest between free and autocratic societies.
