Film Nagar Police of Hyderabad have registered a case against prominent Telugu film personalities in connection with the demolition of Deccan Kitchen Hotel which is located in Film Nagar. A case has been filed against superstars Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati. His brother Abhiram Daggubati and their father Suresh Babu Daggubati also face a police case in the demolition of Deccan Kitchen Hotel.
Other people booked in the case under various IPC sections include Venkatesh Daggubati family members, including producer D Suresh. The Hyderabad hotel was being run by a businessman on the land taken on lease from the Daggubati family, police informed news agency PTI on Sunday.
Hyderabad police registered an FIR in the case on January 11 and charged the accused with criminal conspiracy and house trespass, among others, following a local court's orders.
The hotel located on a plot in Filmnagar had bean leased by the Daggubati family in 2014. According to the complainant, he started running a hotel at the premises after execution of registered lease deed.
The complainant, identified as Nandukumar, is linked with an alleged BRS MLAs poaching case. He was arrested in October 2022 but was later released on bail. The complainant alleged that since the lease deed was in existence, he filed a suit for injunction against Venkatesh and others who tried to vacate him from the premises. The case is pending before the City Civil Court.
Nandukumar said that he approached the police earlier, but no action was taken in the case, ANI reported.
“The accused persons along with some anti-social elements entered into the leased property and demolished the structure in January 2024, prompting him to approach the Nampally court, which directed the police to register a case and investigate,” PTI quoted the complainant as saying.
Hyderabad police registered a case under sections 448, 452 and 458, read with section 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
