Justice Surya Kant, who was on the bench along with Justice N Kotiswar Singh asked, "The words you have used will make daughters, sisters, parents and even the society feel ashamed. It shows a perverted mind. If this is not obscenity, what is it? Why should we quash or club the FIRs against you?"
The top court also granted interim protection from coercive action to influencer Ranveer Allahbadia in FIRs lodged against his comments on YouTube show. Former CJI Chandrachud’s son Abhinav Chandrachud represented Allahbadia in the case.

The bench directed Allahbadia to deposit his passport at the Thane police station and said he shall not leave the country without the prior permission of the court. It also also directed Allahbadia to cooperate in the probe of the FIRs lodged at Maharashtra and Assam.
Earlier on Friday, Ranveer Allahbadia's had filed a plea regarding the multiple FIRs filed against him in connection with the 'India's Got Latent' controversy.

The controversy began when Ranveer Allahbadia made a remark on ‘India’s Got Latent' that many deemed inappropriate, leading to significant public backlash and subsequent legal action. Ranveer said he “personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn't cool on my part." Allahbadia said, “The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don't want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect."

Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy LIVE: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticised Ranveer's statement and told ANI.
"I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others. In our society, we have made some rules, if someone violates them, it is absolutely wrong, and action should be taken against them," Fadnavis said.

"If this is not obscenity, then what is obscenity?" asked a bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh.
Justice Kant said, "Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular you cannot take the society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who will like this language. There is something very dirty in his mind, which has been vomited by him in the program. He is insulting parents also. Why should the courts favour him?"
Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy LIVE: The Supreme Court asked the government to consider regulating obscene content on YouTube and other social media.
Justice Surya Kant directed that:
(i) No further FIR shall be registered against the petitioner based on the episode aired on India's Got Latent.
(ii) The petitioner may approach local police in Maharashtra and Assam for protection if facing threats, as reported by LiveLaw.
The petitioner must deposit his passport at the Thane Police Station and seek prior court permission before leaving the country.

While speaking to news agency PTI, Bombay HC lawyer Abha Singh said, “I am glad that Supreme Court has come out strongly against the comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia."
She added, "SC has rightly said that his comments have made mothers, daughters, and children ashamed. SC has of course given him interim protection but has directed the comedian to cooperate with the investigation."

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted interim protection to Allahabadia from arrest in connection with the multiple FIRs lodged against him across India over his recent inappropriate comments during his guest appearance on a show 'India's Got Latent'. The Apex court granted interim protection to him subject to his cooperating fully with the probe.
The Supreme Court said no further FIR shall be registered against him on the basis of the episode aired on show India's Got Latent. Supreme Court asked him to deposit his passport with police and he can't leave country without permission of the court.

Ranveer Allahbadia News LIVE: BeerBiceps' issued the first statement on the controversy, saying that he is genuinely sorry for making an insensitive remark.
“My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better and I am genuinely sorry."
“I'm watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother's clinic posing as patients. I'm feeling scared, and I don't know what to do."

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia has continuously been out of contact with the investigation agencies, Mumbai and Guwahati Police said in a joint statement.
He is yet to respond to investigation agencies after being named in FIRs filed by Maharashtra Cyber Department, Guwahati Police, and Jaipur Police in the 'India's Got Latent' case, the police said.
"Apart from Maharashtra Cyber and Guwahati Police, the Jaipur Police have also filed a case against Ranveer Allahbadia, but he has not yet been in contact with them too. Maharashtra Cyber Department has ordered Ranveer to appear before it on 24," Mumbai and Guwahati Police said in a joint statement.
Ranveer Allahbadia claimed that he received death threats and also threats to hurt his family so much so that “people have invaded" his mother’s clinic “posing as patients".
“I’m watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother’s clinic posing as patients," he claimed in an Instagram post in which he also added that he was scared due to the developments and that he has “full faith in the police and the judicial system of India".
Deepanshu Raj, who posts musical videos on the social media platform said Ranveer Allahbadia has inspired millions in the country to “become better individuals" through his podcasts and added that he himself is one of them.
“To err is human, to forgive is divine. For 10 years, you have inspired millions in this country to become better individuals through your podcasts and fitness, fashion, and self-help content-and I am surely one of them," he wrote.
Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia to appear before it on February 24. The Cyber Cell is investigating the case registered against Ranveer Allahbadia and others after he triggered an uproar with his offensive remarks on the show 'India's Got Latent.'
Comedian Samay Raina has also been asked to appear before the cyber cell today.
