Police have released a picture of the intruder who was caught on camera leaving the building after attacking Saif Ali Khan.
The CCTV footage, captured at 2:33 am on Thursday morning, showed the suspect's face as he rushes down the stairs. He is seen wearing a brown collared t-shirt and red scarf or ‘gamcha’.
The attacker is currently absconding.
After gaining entry into Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's Bandra residence, the intruder first entered the couple's youngest child Jeh's room.
Recounting her experience, a staff nurse, who also sustained injuries to her wrist, said she woke up around 2 am after hearing a sound in Jeh's room and found the bathroom light on.
In her statement to the police, nurse Eliyama Philip said, “I sat up to see who was in the bathroom when I saw a short, thin man come out and move towards Jeh's bed. I immediately stood up.”
“Koi Awaaz Nahi [don't make any noise],” the man said in Hindi, the nurse recalled.
“I still walked towards Jeh to wake him up. The man had a wooden stick in his left hand and in his right hand he had a long, hacksaw-like blade. He rushed towards me,” Eliyama Philip said.
When asked what he wants, the attacker asked for ₹1 crore.
When she raised an alarm, Saif and Kareena ran to the area where they found the intruder. It was then the man attacked Saif Ali Khan as the actor confronted him.
