Jaisalmer District Collector Tina Dabi has come under fire over the demolition of the houses of Hindu migrants from Pakistan who have settled on government lands in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. According to the reports, more than 50 'kutcha' houses, which housed over 150 women, men, and children, were razed to the ground allegedly on Tina Dabi’s orders.

In protest, the Hindu migrants set up tents outside her house in Jaisalmer. Opposing the anti-encroachment drive, the Hindu migrants demanded that their concerns be heard. Tina Dabi was also slammed on social media.

The Hindu migrants from Pakistan will soon be rehabilitated, an official said on Thursday. Addressing the reporters, Tina Dabi said the process for rehabilitation of the Hindu migrants from across the border will be done and soon land will be allotted to them.

Tina Dabi said, “We have formed a committee, which will soon identify a suitable location where Pakistani migrants can be rehabilitated. Initially, we will allot the land to those who have got Indian citizenship."

Tina Dabi also said that the land would be allotted to the migrants once they are granted the Indian citizenship. She also said that the district administration had arranged accommodation for Hindu migrants at the government-run shelter house, also known as 'Ren Basera,' till the land allotment.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Tina Dabi took charge as the collector and magistrate of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan in July 2022. Tina Dabi announced the development in a tweet.

Before joining as the collector and magistrate of Jaisalmer district, Tina Dabi was posted in Jaipur. Tina Dabi was recently in news for her wedding to Dr Pradeep Gawande -- a 2013 batch IAS officer -- in April.
