Rohit Sharma-led T20 World Cup heroes boarded the special chartered Air India flight from Barbados on Tuesday to return to motherland India. As the World Champions are all set to bring the T20 World Cup home, their flight has now become the most tracked flight on the flightradar website.
The Air India flight with call sign AIC24WC is bringing back the Indian heroes who were stuck in Barbados due to hurricane Beryl.
But here is an interesting fact about the special chartered Air India flight AIC24WC; it's call sign has a significance. AIC signifies Air India Chartered, however, the 24WC represents T20 World Cup 2024. The call sign is fitting for the Indian team's triumph in the tournament.
Rajya Sabha MP and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said the T20 World Cup winning Team India has left from Barbados on a special Air India flight hired by the BCCI. He also informed that the Indian journalists who were stuck in Barbados were also coming on the same flight.
“The flight will land at Delhi airport tomorrow 6 am,” Shukla added.
Rohit Sharma and the team will have a very packed day on Thursday. They will first meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am at the Prime Minister's residence.
"After this, the team will fly to Mumbai. There will be a roadshow from Nariman Point and later we will felicitate the players," Rajeev Shukla said.
A media report said that team India will attend a 1 km long bus parade to the iconic Wankhede Stadium from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, followed by a small presentation where the Indian skipper will hand over the T20 World Cup trophy to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
