Amid daily reports of crimes and other negativities in the national capital, woman's heartwarming story of a woman who shifted to Delhi is winning the internet's heart.
The woman took to Reddit to share her positive experience in Delhi, sharing how a Rapido cab driver helped her during emergency.
“First time felt so safe in delhi [sic],” she titled the post.
Narrating her experience, the woman said that she had shifted to Delhi recently and on the first day in the city, her phone battery died.
“I shifted to delhi recently. The day i shifted, my phone was not in working condition so i was taking phones from random shop or chai tapri [tea stall] owners to book Rapido and to call home to update them. ( some were thinking that i will run with the phone so were excusing by saying that no recharge) [sic],” she wrote.
She managed to book her ride via the Rapido app, and when the driver reached her location he warned that the area was not safe.
“When the rapido owner came to know that i don't have phone and have to find PG, he was in 40's, he said that this place that you booked rapido for, looks gloomy and not safe [sic],” she said.
The driver offered to wait for her until she found her paying guest accommodation (PG) and its owner comes to the location.
“He said you are alone in this city so i will wait till you get the pg and the owner reaches the pg. (He said that i too have daughter at home, so i wouldn't mind spending my other half hour or more here, if you reach safely and settle down) [sic],” she said.
The woman also shared that he even denied payment when he came to know that she only had a ₹500 note.
“I didn't have gpay and just a 500 note with me so i called my mom to gpay on his no. He said don't worry i will earn more in the day, if you are not able to pay. But hence proved: good people exists because of bad people (Humanity still exists) [sic],” she said.
The post gained attention on Reddit quickly, and received a lot of love.
“Some men are absolute pookies ngl,” a user said.
“I still feel Delhi is one of the best cities I am from Jharkhand unfortunately Delhi is not considered to be safe for girls but it will change eventually most of the guys will never harm girls but few guys make us shameful [sic],” a woman said.
