Paatal Lok actress Swastika Mukherjee accused a Swiggy delivery agent of stealing two tickets for the India vs England cricket match scheduled at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Hours before the cricket match, Swastika Mukherjee posted on Instagram, posting, “Two tickets for today’s India vs England match at Eden Gardens was stolen by a @swiggyindia genie executive yesterday.”
Tagging the aggregator, she reflected on the depressing incident and wrote, “THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US TODAY, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU TOMORROW! SHARE THIS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.”
Alerting others about the theft, the actress said the two tickets had to be delivered from New Town action area 2 to New Town action area 1. “It’s been 13 hours and the thief has not been caught despite the company having his details,” the post adds.
According to Swastika Mukherjee, the order for the ticket delivery was placed at 6:30 pm on Tuesday. Everything proceeded as expected until the delivery partner, en route to the destination, blocked her contact mid-way. The delivery agent also blocked her other contact number and stopped responding to calls from either number.
Meanwhile, the delivery partner marked the order as delivered at 5:37 am. Disheartened by the incident, Swastika Mukherjee explained that the tickets were meant for a cricket fan who had never seen a live cricket match before.
Expressing frustration at the lack of action by the company and police, she said, “He has traveled all the way from Kanpur to witness a match at Eden Gardens.”
The post has gone viral and amassed over two thousand likes and several comments. A user commented, “Its a very common practice with Swiggy Genie. They have done it multiple times with expensive gifts being stolen along with important items, especially prevalent during festive times! [sic]”
Another user replied, “It’s only yesterday that @yamigautam also posted about @swiggyindia failing day by day! What shame!”
A third user remarked, “This is not new,i have faced this in zepto and zomato also on prepaid orders.”
A fourth user shared her experience: "I have faced the same few weeks back only with lndriver. And the authorities didn’t take any steps on this. There was lose of 10k almost [sic]."
