Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan shared Holi greetings on Choti Holi (3 March), but his festive post quickly caught the attention of social media users. As the nation celebrated the festival of colours with enthusiasm, Pathan posted a video of himself celebrating with friends, a clip that soon went viral.

The caption on X read: “May you have the brightest & colourful Holi. Happy Holi, everyone.”

Social Media Reaction

The video drew mixed reactions online. One user wrote, “Why is Irfan Pathan getting hate for wishing Holi?” while sharing a comment thread.

Another user remarked, "Love the energy in this video! 🌈 Wishing you and your family a Holi filled with as much joy and color as this celebration. Happy Holi, Irfan sir." A third user stated, "I’m sorry for you Mr. Irfan Pathan….You’ve to do it to prove them your loyalty…."

A fourth user said, “Happy Holi to India's most dashing all-rounder who gave us moments which we will never forget....”

A fifth user comment read, “Field ka fighter, festival ka brightener 😄Happy Holi.”

More about Irfan Pathan

Born on 27 October 1984 in Baroda, Gujarat, Irfan Pathan grew up in a modest family in Vadodara. The 41-year-old former Indian cricketer was a bowling all-rounder known for his fast-medium swing and seam bowling.

He was part of India’s squad that won the inaugural 2007 ICC Twenty20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Pathan also participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2015 and made his acting debut with the 2022 film Cobra.

He married Jeddah-based model Safa Baig on 4 February 2016 in Mecca. The couple have two sons.

Cricket icons at Arjun Tendulkar's pre-wedding bash

Pathan recently attended Arjun Tendulkar’s pre-wedding celebrations in Mumbai. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali hosted a grand function on 3 March ahead of Arjun’s wedding to Saaniya Chandhok on 5 March.

Among the guests were Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge, Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra, Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech, and former India coach Ravi Shastri. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and his family were also present.

Pathan attended the event with his wife, Safa Baig. His brother, Yusuf Pathan, a Trinamool Congress MP, and his wife Afreen were also part of the celebrations.
