‘Unable to sleep tonight’: Samay Raina speaks out on Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26

YouTuber and comedian Samay Raina reacted to the Pahalgam terror attack, saying he was unable to sleep on Tuesday night, hours after at least 26 people, mostly civilians, were reportedly gunned down by terrorists in broad daylight at a tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The brutal terrorist attack took place on Tuesday afternoon in Baisaran meadow near the popultourist resort town of Pahalgam.

The caption to his Instagram story read, “Unable to sleep tonight.”

In the Instagram story, he posted on Wednesday, he shared a post that described the horrific details of the incident. The post also questioned national security and pointed to the failure of the intelligence network.

His post comes two days after the Supreme Court reprimanded him for alleged derogatory remarks on visually impaired and individuals with disabilities on his show India's Got Latent IGL. The apex court said it was “really disturbed" by the comment

Justice Surya Kant said, “We are really disturbed by the allegations. We place such instances on record... implead the concerned persons... suggest measures. Then we will see.”

The comedian has been in the spotlight and under public scrutiny following remarks made by fellow YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's joke on the show, concerning parents and sex. Notably, Samay Raina was officially added as a party in the ongoing legal case.

Horrifying Pahalgam terror attack

The April 22 Pahalgam terror attack is being termed as the worst terrorist attack since the Pulwama strike in 2019. In the brutal attack, gunmen killed as many as 26 people in one of the worst attacks on civilians in the Jammu and Kashmir region in recent years. 

The gunmen started firing indiscriminately at tourists around 2:30 pm on Tuesday near the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, about 90 kilometres east of Srinagar, PTI reported.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, claimed responsibility.
